Order no. ME01038
The MELAdem 53 works in accordance with the tried and tested ion exchange procedure, generating high-quality demineralized water for the cleaning, disinfection and sterilization process. It has been conceived to satisfy a requirement for large volumes of aqua dem e.g. for the supply of the Cliniclave, MELAtherm and one or more practice steam sterilizers. The scope of delivery consists of two high-value cartridges filled with regeneratable resin, one of which is connected to the steam sterilizer and/or the MELAtherm. Once the cartridge has been exhausted, it is dispatched for regeneration and the second cartridge is brought into operation.
The MELAdem 53 represents the standard water treatment unit for practices requiring large quantities of demineralized water. The high-performance of the MELAdem 53 enables the connection of one or more steam sterilizers in addition to the MELAtherm. Given an average water hardness of the tap water, the capacity of a cartridge is sufficient for c. 2,800 litres of high-quality demineralized water.

For large quantities of demineralised water
The water preparation unit MELAdem 53 is ideally suited for providing high-quality demineralised water for final rinsing in the MELAtherm, for instrument preparation with Careclave and for simultaneous supply of other devices. The scope of delivery includes two high-quality 20-litre containers filled with regenerable resin, one of which is always connected to the instruments in the reprocessing room. When the first container is used up, it is given to regeneration while the second container is used.
The capacity of the powerful ion exchanger cartridge is sufficient for approx. 2,800 litres of high-quality demineralised water at an average tap water hardness. The MELAdem 53 or MELAdem 53 C cartridge is then regenerated directly by us in Berlin. Commission us now and benefit from the promising advantages:
✓ Pick-up and delivery service of the cartridge at no extra charge
✓ High-quality original mixed bed resin with a long service life
✓ Fast regeneration from the specialist
✓ Incoming and final inspection as well as cleaning of the ion exchanger
✓ Instructions via video tutorial for error-free processing
✓ Long storage period of the regenerated containers of up to 18 months
The ion exchanger system MELAdem 53 takes positively charged or negatively charged ions from the raw water during water treatment and exchanges them for ions of the same charge. Through ion exchange, practices and clinics achieve the desired water quality for the reprocessing of medical products. However, this gradually exhausts the synthetic resin present in the ion exchanger cartridge. Since our autoclaves and thermo washer disinfectors have an integrated conductivity measurement, the decreasing water quality sooner or later leads to a warning or malfunction message.
The subsequent professional regeneration is an environmentally conscious and resource-saving procedure. Because after replacing the mixed-bed resin, not only can the MELAdem 53 container be completely reused, but the used resin is also reprocessed for future regeneration.
The capacity, i.e. how much demineralised water can be treated with the resin, depends especially on the ion concentration in the input water and thus on the water quality. If the water has a high ion concentration or conductivity, more ions have to be exchanged, which results in a shorter operating time of the MELAdem 53. With regard to conductivity and water hardness, the containers of the MELAdem 53 have a capacity of:
2800 litres at 10 °dH
1200 litres at 20 °dH
800 litres at 25 °dH
When stored in a cool and dry place, the mixed bed resin cartridge can be used for up to 18 months (see labelling disc). The optimum temperature range for storage is 2 - 20 °C. A mixed bed resin cartridge filled with water must always be protected from frost.
Some practices and clinics have a central softening system for the water supply. A softening system removes the hardness-forming ions from the drinking water and exchanges them in equal parts with sodium ions. The increased sodium content in the water can lead to a one-sided load on the ion exchanger system and thus to premature exhaustion of the MELAdem 53. Therefore, if your central softening system is connected to the water supply in the treatment room, please ensure the correct functioning of this system together with the manufacturer - for example, after regenerating the central softening system with sodium / salt, the first intermediate rinse should be fed directly into the wastewater. Please note that an upstream softening system has no positive effect on the capacity of the MELAdem 53.
