The software is easy to use with large buttons on our touch PC in the reprocessing room. We have also connected a MELAprint, which we then use to create the barcode labels for our packaged instruments. Reading the labels and linking them to the patient data is easy with a scanner.

Our orthodontic practice was founded in February 2014. We are two practitioners and our main focus is on the correction of misaligned teeth, temporomandibular joint therapy and prophylaxis. We have planned our practice for the treatment of 60-70 patients per day. When setting up a new practice, the entire realisation of the treatment room is a very important factor in addition to the treatment rooms. Especially in a confined space, this must be utilised as effectively as possible. Together with our specialist dealer, we planned the room and equipment perfectly for our needs. We opted for the MELAG system with the MELAtherm thermal disinfector, the Vacuclave autoclave, the MELAseal validatable sealing device and, for documentation and approval, the MELAtrace reprocessing software combined with the MELAprint 60 label printer. Instrument reprocessing in the practice needed to be state-of-the-art and also ensure complete documentation in accordance with the guidelines. In addition to the legal requirements, it was also important for us to use software that is intuitive and self-explanatory. The MELAtherm and Vacuclave can be approved with just a few clicks and is securely archived. It is also possible to define the load with MELAtrace. This enables us to track which instruments have been sterilised, how and by whom.

After sterilisation, labels are printed with the MELAprint 60 label printer to identify the packaged instruments. By using a barcode scanner, we can read the labels before treatment and link them to the patient file. The entire reprocessing chain is therefore fully traceable and securely documented. The use of MELAtrace means that manual documentation is no longer necessary - everything is completely digital.

Following the redesign, we now use the MELAtherm, the MELAseal sealing device, the Vacuklav and the MELAtrace software in our practice. The scope and type of loading can be freely selected. The documentation shows which person reprocessed the instruments at what time. The technical reprocessing parameters are automatically assigned to the respective cycle and saved with the release. The MELAprint 60 label printer can now be used to print out barcode labels after instrument reprocessing. These are affixed to the packaged and sterile instruments, allowing them to be assigned to the patients treated.

We opted for the free 3-month trial licence. During this period, the software has completely picked us up and we no longer want to do without it in our day-to-day practice. In particular, the storage of the logs in the cloud and the associated remote error analysis by our technician have already helped us a lot at one point or another.
